THINKING OUTSIDE THE EMPLOYMENT BOX

A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE OF FLEXIBLE EMPLOYMENT SOLUTIONS

Funding issues are now at the top of the agenda for most charities. So should HR professionals and chief executives be considering flexible employment as a key part of the solution?

This seminar will give you practical insights into a range of creative employment practices and answer the most frequently asked questions, such as: can I really get better quality people if I'm more flexible and creative? What legal issues are involved in engaging interim managers? How can I use part-time and job share arrangements in an effective way?

Hosted by Women Like Us and PrimeTimers , not-for-profit social enterprises that specialise in flexible employment and interim executives, the seminar speakers include:

  • Iain Herbertson, Special Advisor on Employment, the Mayor's Fund for London , who will share his experiences of the benefits that flexible working brings to business
  • Christina Searle , HR Director of Sue Ryder Care , who will share her first hand experience of employing interim managers
  • Irwin Mitchell, law firm , who will give you an insight into the impact of future European and UK changes to employment law on flexible employment
This event will be of particular interest to hr managers and directors of charities and social enterprises, chief executives of small and medium size charities and social enterprises, trustees with responsibility for people management practices and members of PrimeTimers who advise or consult on hr issues.

Seminar cost: £10 including buffet lunch

INTERIM MANAGEMENT SEMINAR: Doing the dirty work or holding the fort? - July 2009

We were delighted to welcome over 60 attendees at our recent seminar on interim management, a combination of nfp organisations, interim managers and those considering interim as a career path. Guest speakers from key charities including Bow Childcare, Sporting Equals and the British Youth Council and their respective interims shed some useful light on the mysteries of when to employ an interim, how it differs from consultancy, how to get the best out of an interim manager and what the pitfalls may be.

In a competitive and challenging climate, where it's crucial to have the right skills in place at the right time, we believe that interim management is going to be the way forward in the third sector over the next few years and our panel of speakers roundly endorsed this view.
