Can charities be learning organisations?

CfAppointments Ltd joins with us to ask: can charities be learning organisations?
5.30pm, 14 January, 2008
at 1 London Bridge

Chair, Richard Evans, Chief Executive of CfAppointments Ltd will introduce the debate. The panel will comprise: Ben Jupp, a senior adviser in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit and former Director in the Office of the Third Sector; Andrew Ladds, Chief Executive, Society of Chemical Industry; Claire Fox, Director, Institute of Ideas; Kathleen Duncan, former Director General of the Lloyds TSB Foundation.

The corporate sector has adapted to globalization and the new technologies by becoming more flexible in organization and more agile in creating opportunities. It has had to foster employee readiness to learn on and for new jobs. With the growth of the third sector, and government ambitions for it to play an ever more prominent role in service delivery, charities too will have to become learning organizations. Are they ready to do so, and can they perform the same kind of inner transformation on which business survival so often depends?
