The annual Institute of Interim Managers survey of interim management activity shows how it is growing in importance with charities. This accords with the experience of Primetimers which is one of the few interim suppliers to also be a social enterprise. The survey of over 1,530 interim managers reveals that the percentage of assignments in the not for profit and charity sector has almost doubled in the last 12 months whilst it has stayed level in private companies and dropped from 32% to 29% in the public sector. Change management remains the most common use of interims accounting for 19% of all assignments. Experience is the key determinant with 67% of the interims being over age 50 and 54% of the roles are at Director or Board level, reflecting the fact that this is often where major change starts. Over 70% of interims say they chose it for professional and lifestyle reasons.
