Government's
Degree Revolution
Mirrors
University
for Civil Society
Ideas
from Higher Education Secretary, John Denham, for enabling thousands more
students to study part-time using an accumulative credit system, are strikingly
similar to those put forward for a University for Civil Society by PrimeTimers,
business skills supplier to the third sector.
Flexible
studying, employer funding and support for on the job training are all
key concepts within the Civil Society University which were discussed
by leading public and private figures earlier this year.
PrimeTimers
director, Mary Chadwick, said: “It's really encouraging that a government
minister has recognised so many of the benefits that were put forward
in our major lecture series on the Civil Society University . We can see
that the need for flexible learning will become even more urgent as people
may be forced to re-evaluate their careers and seek opportunities for
personal development and reinvention.”
